The American Council for World Jewry warmly welcomes the historic announcement of Sudan’s normalization of relations with Israel. By ending the state of war and agreeing to normalize ties with Israel, Sudan becomes the third Arab state to become part of the Abraham Accords – following the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Council congratulates Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Sudanese Chairman of the Sovereignty Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok for this decisive step towards peace and thanks President Donald Trump and the U.S. officials who worked tirelessly to make this announcement possible.

The commitment by Israel to invest and contribute in some important sectors of the Sudanese economy, including areas such as agriculture and mining, would potentially shore up economic stability and contribute to improvements in the well-being of Sudanese citizens. We look forward to the establishment of full diplomatic relations between Israel and Sudan.
