Middle East Cease Fire Must not Permit Infrastructure of Terrorism to Remain in Lebanon and Gaza, Says AJCongress Executive Director
- 18 July 2006
“Those who believe that peace in the Middle East can be achieved by acquiescing to violence are mistaken,” said American Jewish Congress Executive Director Neil B. Goldstein, in response to calls today for a cease fire in Lebanon. “It is those who permit terrorism on their soil – rather than Israel’s response to it – who are responsible for the calamity that has befallen their people. Any cease fire permitting the infrastructure of terrorism to remain would permit the terrorists to renew violence at a later time and place of their choosing."

American Jewish Congress Welcomes AAUP Decision to Postpone Anti-Israel Boycott Conference - 9 February 2006
"The discussion on Academic Boycotts against Israel is specious at best, and has no place in a true academic environment. These calls are political and anti-Semitic and are designed to submerge Israel in the mire of apartheid, and they should be viewed as that alone. The AAUP needs to get its house in order, weed out the ideologues on this issue. Only then will AAUP and the sponsoring foundations be spared further embarrassment," said Paul S. Miller, president of American Jewish Congress.

AJCongress Says, “Hamas Victory Means Charade is Over” - 26 January 2006
During the Palestinian election campaign, Hamas promised that, if elected, it would do better providing services to the Palestinian people than the corrupt Fatah leadership that, heretofore, had used available funds to line its own pockets. At the same time Hamas continued to call for the destruction of Israel and threatened to resume the Palestinian campaign of terrorism following the election. One half of the Hamas platform cannot be separated from the other; by choosing the party that, so to speak, promised to do a better job “making the trains run on time,” the Palestinian people also have acquiesced to Hamas’ campaign of evil.
